Having spent many years in the Midwest of Indiana, Dr. Black graduated from the University of Notre Dame with an Aerospace Engineering degree and headed west to Denver, Colorado. While in Denver, he met his bride and then moved to a new position as an engineer with the U.S. Army Missile Command in Huntsville, Alabama. At this time he decided to pursue his second career as a doctor. The University of Alabama School of Medicine in Birmingham was followed by internship at the Baptist Medical System. Residency in Anesthesiology was joyously served at University of Chicago. His formal education was completed with Fellowship in Pain Management at the University of Chicago. His first position was Assistant Professor at the University of Chicago in the Department of Anesthesia. Prior to coming to Naples, he spent three years in Champaign, Illinois as the Director of Anesthesiology at Provena Covenant Hosptial.
Dr. Black tries to blend the wisdom of an old time family physician with the space age technology of today. Pain relief is the reward to the unsolved diagnostic puzzles which are frequently referred to Dr. Black.
When he is not engaged in professional pursuits, he spends time with his wife, three daughters, and his son. Interests also include boating, fishing, cheering for Notre Dame, and enjoying the white sandy beaches of Naples, Florida.
